How I manage to get up at 5 AM in winter mornings
Today, as I was half awake in the morning, the winter chills, with my room’s AC on 16 degrees 😅, I was trying to think of whether to hit the gym or just go back to sleep with the warm blanket ❤️.
But, I got up after a series of thoughts that flashed through my mind. So I thought for a moment, many people who really want to get up early and kickstart their day, must be facing this situation, so I thought of pinning down my thoughts on this. This post describes those thoughts that help me fight back those lovely winter mornings and keep up the routine, except, if you are married, then this is the best time you and your spouse could spend time cuddling each other. 😸
Of course, there is day in 3–4 weeks wherein I am really tired due to various reasons, I skip the gym altogether and just go back to sleep, but otherwise, a STRICT routine until I get married, to skip the gym and spend time cuddling each other 😂.
Now, let’s talk about those thoughts or trigger points that I have, which can be helpful for you to decide a routine for yourself. It’s not necessary to be a 5 AM routine, different routines work for different people. The 5 AM worked for me really well and has been doing wonders every single day.
Points are:-
- The aura of walking with confidence when you return from the gym.
I love this feeling, the confidence you wear while walking in total sweat, your muscles worked out with power in them, after weight lifting, cardio and a shake of whey protein. I feel, as if I have accomplished something great. Having this feel whole day makes me more efficient in tasks at hand, be it at office, be it my personal project or my side business hustle. I get more productive with this thoughts in my mind. So whenever in the morning, I think of going back to sleep, I have a greater purpose in front of me — This feeling that I love very much and won’t like to miss. Hence, I get up 😄 - Best decisions were taking in the morning.
Till date, every single major decision, be it about which project to work on, decision for my side business (my side hustle, making money work for me), etc. were taken in the morning between 5AM — 8AM and every single one of them have been turned out great for me, working in my favour. So whenever in the morning, I think of going back to sleep, I feel the need to plan my day better and increase cash flow to my bank account — Take decisions that always work in my favour. Hence, I get up 😄 - Best time to visualise the stage you want to be or things you want to achieve.
As we all know the power of human subconscious mind, the best time to visualise things, is the early morning, or the moment between you being awake and falling asleep at night. Also, the best time, to express gratitude for your life and the things you have in your life, is the early morning, when the connection between your subconscious mind and the universe is the strongest than any other time. So whenever in the morning, I think of going back to sleep, I think of the dream that I want to be — Visualise what you want. Hence, I get up 😄 - Solution to code/project problems have been figured out between this time.
I am sure you must have had your own eureka moment for the problems that you work on, on daily basis. Well, it’s the same for me, whenever during the previous day, I am stuck on a code bug or think of different software designs, architectures to implement a solution in, I prefer time between 5 AM — 8 AM to think on them. And 98% of time, I have been successful in every problem that I have worked on. The 2% difference is, as I already mentioned, when I am too tired to hit the gym, I go back to sleep. So, whenever in the morning, I think of going back to sleep, I remember the problems I care about and want to solve — Bugs and Projects. Hence, I get up 😄
Often, when someone asks me about my routine, and when I share, some folks often label it as boring routine. But I just simply ignore to what they say, because these are the same folks who, when we were in college, labelled me as boring since I preferred working on my projects at home rather than attend useless parties that they had. But later, when these same projects helped me fetch internships, Win JP Morgan Hackathon, Google Summer Of Code, job and package of my choice, they still struggle with lower packages and jobs they hate, and now those mouth are shut and no-where to be heard.
The point of saying this is, people often try to pull you back when they see you going forward and growing more than them. Just don’t let that happen.
I am not against attending parties or going to pubs, I myself have a streak of partying 6 consecutive Friday’s in some of the posh and expensive clubs in Mumbai 😂, the only point is, there is a time for everything and when things are done when they are to be done, trust me, it is way more enjoyable than you would imagine. There is no point in wasting parent’s money for things you want to do, earn yourself and reward yourself for the work you did in the way you want. With these, you would understand value of the money and you would also get wise in handling that money.
So to conclude, following a routine is not boring or useless, it teaches you the art of living, the way which you won’t regret later in life and you would thank yourself for the following your set routine.
